Photographing so many families here in South Florida on vacation, really makes me appreciate this beautiful place we live in. This fun extended family came in from 3 different corners of our country to enjoy a nice & warm Spring Break on Fort Lauderdale Beach... and their temporary home made the perfect location for some updated family photos of the whole group together. When I first arrived, one of the older girls was quick to introduce herself as Sally & tell me that her friends at school call her "Silly Sally"... I knew right away we were going to get along. She definitely lived up to her nickname during our photos (making me seriously LOL while editing). Having 5 little ones, all under the age of 5, can make gathering for photos a bit of a challenge at times (Goldfish crackers helped)... but it was so much fun chasing them around the beach & getting to capture each of their personalities. Plus, all the unprompted hugs & sibling/cousin love was just too cute! [tg_masonry_gallery gallery_id="9364" layout="wide" columns="4"]

Can we just take a second to acknowledge that I seriously have the most beautiful clients? Like, for real. I also happen to live in a very beautiful place. And when you're visiting a beautiful place like South Florida with your family, it becomes a perfect time to capture some updated photos & document your memories here. That is exactly what this family of 3 decided to do while in town from New York & it couldn't have been a more perfect morning. I arrived to Fort Lauderdale Beach just before sunrise to meet them near their hotel & was surprised to see several people already there at such an early hour. (Now that I think about it... if Florida does stay on daylight savings time year round, this will be my very last super-early morning sunrise photo session.) It was the first day of a "cold front" & was definitely chilly before the sun made its full appearance, but the light was gorgeous & seeing the sun rise always makes the early wake up call worth it. At just 7 months old, the youngest obviously stole the whole show - those little smiles have been killing me while working on the gallery. Here are just a few of my favorites from the session...[tg_masonry_gallery gallery_id="9320" layout="wide" columns="4"]
Back in June, Rob's sister reached out to me from North Florida to purchase a gift card for her single-dad brother for Father's Day. Instead of trying to beat the crazy South Florida heat in the summer to plan an outdoor session then, we waited until a little closer to the holidays & had an awesome morning beach session in Hollywood. Sometimes my clients wake up & see clouds and maybe a small threat of rain & think it won't be a good day for photos... when in fact that makes for perfect session-weather! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect beach morning to take some photos. Max had just celebrated his 1 year birthday & was all smiles for his time in the spotlight with dad. It was great to see the bond between these two & capture some of that love into photos him & his family can cherish. It was great to meet you both! Hurray! Dates for this year's mini sessions are here & booking starts now! The two dates will be Saturday, October 29th & Sunday, November 13th. The first will be a beach location in Hollywood & the second session in November will be a park location in Davie. New to my mini session photography? No worries! They're created to give people like you a super simple way to get new family photos in time for the holidays without doing a full-length custom session. After being slightly delayed due to South Florida's schizophrenic weather... (okay, okay, it was really just a typical 5-minute drizzle that I probably overreacted to)... we had excellent weather on Fort Lauderdale Beach for a quick maternity session! Just the right amount of sun peeking through the clouds & a nice breeze to keep us from sweating within minutes... a great reminder of how beautiful our beaches are at this time of night. You know what else is beautiful? This glowing mommy-to-be who also happens to be my sister. Baby girl Morgan is scheduled to make her arrival October 12th, so we of course had to get some prime belly shots in before the endless newborn, baby & family photos start up. Consider this Morgan's very first photo session with Aunt Tammi. So much more to come. I can't wait to meet you, Morgan!!
I love my annual check in with this family... And considering Jordan (who is now 5) has been taking part in these photo sessions since he was just 13 months old, he definitely knows the drill (he even directed the 2nd photo in this gallery - wanting to pose in the background of his sister). We met at North Beach Park in Hollywood this year, which gave us great places to "explore" (& play find-the-grills) before ending up on the beach. There was no doubt Jordan was going to be first in the water - It gave our family photo session a trash-the-dress-esque edge. Ha. Had a great time as always - love watching these two grow up!
When its my first time meeting (& photographing) a family, I always do my best to explain my creative process a bit in the beginning. It starts simple... "just be yourself", "engage with each other", "pretend I'm not here"... but after this past Sunday, I think Melissa & Josh might tell you it sounds much easier than it actually is. I'm sure when they arrived at Colee Hammock Park Photo Sessions in Fort Lauderdale for family photos, they were probably not expecting to get a full workout complete with running, lifting, throwing, etc. But good news... I don't charge extra for the unexpected calorie burn! ;) I had such a blast with these girls, covering every inch of the waterfront park... pulling those natural smiles out from behind those shy, hiding faces I first met. It was great to meet you all - I hope you enjoy the photos... full gallery coming soon!
After doing a multi-generation family session at this same location just 2 weeks ago, I returned to hang out with 3 different families for my second round of mini-sessions this season. Without too many available days for sessions between now and Christmas (I know, I know, it scares me too), I'll be spending the rest of my year focusing on full photo sessions. It was great to have one last back-to-back-session day of the year - never a dull moment! I met so many great faces!
This season's first round of holiday mini-sessions took place at Tree Tops Park. Like usual, I had a great mix of repeat clients and some new faces - with little ones ranging from 8 months old to 6 years old! Here are just a few of my favorites from 3 of the families that joined me that day...
Saturday at a quiet North Beach Park in Hollywood, I hung out with this great three-generation family of twelve... and shot HUNDREDS of photos! It was just 9 months ago that I photographed 15-day-old Jackson - the newest addition to the family, so it was great to see how him and big sister Avery have grown. Not to mention, the rest of the family, most of whom I had first met at Avery's first birthday party. I definitely owe this session to Jess for being the best subject and assistant at the same time, making sure all groups were covered and everyone knew exactly where they were supposed to be. It made MY afternoon super relaxed - hope we got it all covered! I had a blast with all of you... it was so difficult to narrow down my favorite photos. The entire gallery is coming soon!
