This year's holiday mini session event took me back to one of my favorite little beaches in South Florida - Hollywood's North Beach Park. I met lots of new great families & got to see some families again that have joined my mini sessions before. Because I get a lot of repeat clients, I try to switch up the location of my events each year to provide some variety & I think the beach location worked out perfectly this year for those who joined my park event last year. We had beautiful weather on this Saturday in mid-November... the kind of barefoot beach weather that makes a perfect holiday card to send to friends & family up north who are snowed-in & freezing (maybe a little cruel but it never stops being fun). Thanks to everyone who joined me this year! [tg_masonry_gallery gallery_id="9183" layout="wide" columns="4"]
Back in June, Rob's sister reached out to me from North Florida to purchase a gift card for her single-dad brother for Father's Day. Instead of trying to beat the crazy South Florida heat in the summer to plan an outdoor session then, we waited until a little closer to the holidays & had an awesome morning beach session in Hollywood. Sometimes my clients wake up & see clouds and maybe a small threat of rain & think it won't be a good day for photos... when in fact that makes for perfect session-weather! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect beach morning to take some photos. Max had just celebrated his 1 year birthday & was all smiles for his time in the spotlight with dad. It was great to see the bond between these two & capture some of that love into photos him & his family can cherish. It was great to meet you both! After being slightly delayed due to South Florida's schizophrenic weather... (okay, okay, it was really just a typical 5-minute drizzle that I probably overreacted to)... we had excellent weather on Fort Lauderdale Beach for a quick maternity session! Just the right amount of sun peeking through the clouds & a nice breeze to keep us from sweating within minutes... a great reminder of how beautiful our beaches are at this time of night. You know what else is beautiful? This glowing mommy-to-be who also happens to be my sister. Baby girl Morgan is scheduled to make her arrival October 12th, so we of course had to get some prime belly shots in before the endless newborn, baby & family photos start up. Consider this Morgan's very first photo session with Aunt Tammi. So much more to come. I can't wait to meet you, Morgan!!
Last Sunday, I went to John Lloyd Beach Park in Dania Beach and spent the day with some of the most contagious smiles ever. It had been about 2 years since I had last seen this family. In 2012, we met at the Dania Beach pier at sunrise when Ava was just 2 and RJ hadn't made his appearance yet. RJ has the same big personality his sister did at about that age, so these two smiles together can make anyone melt. The morning started out cloudy and drizzling, but we didn't let that affect our fun. We twirled, played games, raced, jumped... some of us even got tickle-attacked. Mornings like this are just reminders of how much I love what I do. I had a blast capturing these huge personalities in photos - looking forward to the next family shoot!
Before the area gets taken over by Tortuga Music Festival, these two sisters (who also happened to be my awesome nieces) and I took some time on Fort Lauderdale beach for a super fun lifestyle photography session. At ages 10 and 12, things were obviously a little different than the newborn-to-two range that I've been busy with lately. We danced, jumped, did cartwheels, played on swings... all in true Spring Break fashion. It was a great way to get some updated professional photos of them to replace those boring sit-on-a-chair-in-front-of-this-ugly-background-and-say-cheese school photos that never come out good enough to be enlarged and framed.
Remember this face? Almost exactly one year ago, I spent the day with Jordan and his parents at Volunteer Park in Sunrise (seen HERE), shortly after his first birthday... which would make him two now. Yep, I can also do math. This time, we met at Fort Lauderdale beach - by the South Beach Park and the Sheraton Hotel, aka Yankee Clipper. You might notice that Jordan had a wardrobe change halfway through the session... well, actually it was probably more like 15 minutes into the session. Two year olds are always drawn to the ocean. Pretty instantly. I usually save the 'let the kids get wet and messy' photos for the end, but in this case, it was a nice start to a BEAUTIFUL morning in South Florida. I smiled the entire time I was editing this set - Jordan's smile is still very much contagious. Love catching up with this family every year... by next session, this family of three will be a family of four!
On a crowded day at Fort Lauderdale Beach, I got to hang out with three generations of a family I've known my whole life... including the two little cuties that I hadn't even met yet! I'm not sure when we all grew up, but its great being close enough to catch up and get them some updated family photos in time for the holidays!
Since I'm past the age of watching the sunrise on my way home from the clubs, the only time I am really awake in time to enjoy them anymore is when I have a morning beach photo session. I should maybe consider waking up early enough to enjoy them more often...I definitely live close enough to the beach... Eh, but I do love my sleep.Maybe this photo I took of last Saturday's sunrise at Dania Beach Pier will fulfill my need for a while. Until the next morning session, of course.
